OIL SPILL: Benikrukru Communities Reiterates Position, Vows Not To Vacate Chevron Facilities As Protest Enters Day 10

As Gbaramatu agitation against Chevron Nigeria Limited enters its tenth day on Sunday, Benikrukru leaders have asserted that their protest against environment pollution is far from over and they are “going strong”.

The marathon movement has sent out a message of unity, made indigenes of “Gbaramatu Kingdom visible once again” and brought them back to agitate for their right peaceful.

For over ten days, the three oil flowstations in Gbaramatu Kingdom, belonging to Chevron, have transformed into townships occupied by hundreds of protesters from different communities in the Kingdom.
The Chairman of Benikrukru Community said they are prepared to continue the protest as long as it is required.

He said ” We are completely and spiritually prepared. Unless and until the government and the oil company listens to us and meets our demands, we will not move from here.

Members of the communities together with Chevron staff and government officials are supposed to go for Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) today (Saturday April 3, 2021), we waited for them, they refused to appear for none reason, we are watching them closely,” Solomon, who is among the leaders at the forefront of the protest, told newsmen.
