It was a mild drama on Tuesday 2nd February, 2021 at the Delta State Deputy Governor residence in Asaba, the state capital, during a condolences courtesy visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who lost his father recently. However, ahead of 2023 governorship interest went public with a battle of supremacy between the state Deputy Governor, Dcn Barr Kingsly Burutu Otuaro and Sen. James Manager of Delta South senatorial district played out.
The struggle for power assumed a public display of show of shame when Ijaw leaders in the State led a delegtion on a condolence visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the death of his father at Asaba, the State Capital.
Our source in Asaba, Tareowei Andrew said, “What suppose to be a condolence visit turned a public disgrace of Ijaws by power seekers who failed to exercise decorum. Senator James Manager who suppose to lead the delegation for the visit to the Governor and a supposed number one sympathizer with the Governor, Otuaro was missing in action struggling to deprive perceive opponent for political interest, while Sen J.E Manager was insisting on presenting tropical issues of political interest for Ijaws”.
“The deputy Governor however fumed in anger, saying he dont have time for nonsense, in the presence of Sen J.E Manager, Chief Broderick Bozimo, former minister of police affairs, Chief P.Y Biakpra (Rtd), showing a public conduct that he is in control”.
“Manager was able to handle the outbust and dramatic confrontation, allowing Otuaro to have the stage to select his choice of representatives for the interest of Peace”.
Another mild drama aslo played out at Governor Ifeanyi Okowa residence when it was agreed that Former Minister of Police Affairs, Chief Broderick Bozimo should speak on behalf of the Ijaw delegation but Barr Kingsley Burutu Otuaro refused and took the stage and speak personally to his principal without recourse to the Elders and Leaders of the delegation just to show that his in control of Delta Ijaws ahead 2023.
