WARRI________The Ijaw People’s Development initiative, IPDI, has appealed with his Excellency senator Ifeanyi Okowa to relaxed the curfew in the state as the state was yet to resuscitate from the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide lockdown which crumbled the state economically.
Addressing newsmen, the board of trustees chairman, Mr. Cletus Itari said this was not the time to declared long curfew when Deltans were facing strong economic challenges.
Cletus said there was enormous hunger in the state coupled with the ravaging flood in the riverine and rural communities in the state and that Deltans need time to go about their normal businesses.
The group said the ENDSARS protest had subsided and there was no need for the continued curfew.
Cletus, said the curfew would not bring total solution to the ENDSARS protest but would only compounds the woes of Deltans and that the curfew be relax for the meantime or be shifted to 10pm to 6am.
He added that innocent Deltans had suffered untold military brutality and vehicles and commercial tricircles being destroyed by the military enforcing the state curfew order.
While condemning the destruction of public properties by hoodlums in guise of genuine protesters, Cletus noted that the 6pm to 8am curfew may killed resuscitating small businesses in the state.
