Assault On Journalist: Gov Okowa’s Aide, Austin Ozobo Apologises To Vanguard Reporter, Others, Urges Security Agents To Observe Rule Of Engagement

WARRI________The special assistant to his excellency Dr. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on political matters, comrade Ozobo Austin has expressed unreserved apology of the state to Barr Akpokona Omafuaire, a VANGUARD reporter and a lawyer who was assualted while on official duty, and as well unidentified medical doctor and others who may had been allegedly assaulted by police and unidentified military personnel in Udu road and other parts of the state.

Ozobo asserted that journalists coming out to inspect compliance of the state curfew order, and doctors on official assignments shouldn’t be seen as violators of the state curfew order offered by the governor of the state.

He further asserted that his excellency senator Ifeanyi Okowa having great respect for human rights, didn’t order such brutal actions on Deltans while handing down the state curfew order.

He said the governor instructed the security guards to observed high level of discipline and rules of engagements in the face of provocation while carrying out the enforcement.

Ozobo said though some persons actually violated the curfew order but despite such cases the military and other security agents were expected to exhibit some levels of maturity.

He added that the state sincerely apologise for the unfortunate incident of military assaults on Akpokona Omafuaire and others in the state.

He further urged every Deltan to comply with the curfew order of the state government which was to steamed down the uprising and destruction of public properties in the state by some suspected hijackers of the peaceful ENDSARS protest in the state.
