Yesterday, the Gbaramatu Kingdom has once and again affirmed its leadership role in achieving self-reliance for the IJAW Nation by organizing one of the most peaceful and innovative elections in the history of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) since inception.

This act stamps the Kingdom’s commitment to the ‘1998 Kaiama Declaration.’
The election have been commended by various quarters as the most credible and organized election speaking directly to the root causes of the conflicts that plagued the performance of the Council for years and functionality in achieving its objectives.

No more factions. ‘IYC Congress Oporoza 2020’ will go down memory lane as the last straw that broke the camel’s back. The issues that have held back our shared interest in fighting for a stronger and prosperous IJAW Nation have been laid to rest in Oporoza on the Sunday 19th July, 2020.

It will be a day worthy of commemoration sequel to emancipation walk of our great hero Major Gen. Jasper Adaka Boro.
I wish to salute the moral will and courage of all the entire aspirants for sharing in the pursuit of a better IJAW Nation.

I believe that the works we do will not stop at the campaigns. To the winners; congratulations for the mandate you have been entrusted. Let your actions/impact be good as the elections result.

IYC is not a political organization. It is the strength of the IJAW nation. It is the vehicle to a country which a people will be proud to call theirs. Innovation and deep consultation with key stakeholders/intellectuals is critical to achieving these underlying objectives of the organization.
