The Niger Delta Students Union Government-NIDSUG, has announce the completion of the first phase of it’s SOFT SKILL EMPOWERMENT TRAINING.

The leadership of NIDSUG, made this announcement via a press release duely signed by the president, Amb. Dauebi Joey Ekadi Jr. Of which a copy was sent to Coastal Times.

The leadership had on Friday the 5th June, 2020, announce the initiative in a press release, calling on Students and youths of the Niger Delta region, to take advantage of the scheme, for self development and self dependency.

The training program which was initiated mainly to give a sense of self dependency and sufficiency amongst Students and Youths of the Niger Delta. Was a huge success, recording about 17 graduates.

Some of the skills learnt by the participating students where, Beef Sharwama making, Chicken Sharwama making, Meat Pie and Beef Pie making. Which was thought by highly skilled entrepreneurs.

The graduation ceremony was attended by great calibre of persons, such as, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Hon. Walton Liverpool, Barr. Tari Pori, Member Bayelsa State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee On Youths, amongst many other Youths leaders who graced the occasion, which was held at Yenagoa, the Capital of Bayelsa State.

National President Joey Ekadi, during his speech, called on Stakeholders and other well meaning individuals from the Niger Delta region, to key into the program. As the phase two (2) will be coming up soon.

Amb. Ekadi also, stressed on people empowerment, particularly the Youths of Niger Delta. As this will greatly reduce the rate of crime, criminality and other social vices in the society in general, and the Niger Delta region in particular.


“When our youths are engaged productively, the after effect will be reduction of crime, criminality and other social vices in the society in general, and the Niger Delta region in particular.

Therefore, it is my humble appeal to every Stakeholder, Intervention Agencies and well meaning Individuals in the Niger Delta region, to key into the program, by providing necessary support/assistance. As the empowerment Training is meant to cover the entire Niger Delta region.

Leaders who grace the graduation ceremony, also charged the trainees who graduated, to put the skills learnt to work, and as well create a means of self sufficiency for themselves as Entrepreneurs. while also calling on State Governments, Leaders of the Niger Delta region and intervention agencies such as, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to further support the Joey Ekadi leadership of NIDSUG. In order to enable them do more in service to the Niger Delta region and the students Community.
