DELTA, Nigeria – The State government has revealed that the 67-year old US citizen who died in the State after showing COVID-19 symptoms tested negative for the virus after a post mortem test.
OgeneAfrican had reported that the US citizen, identified as Babra Laurilliard, died in Warri on May 10th.
Laurilliard reportedly died at a hotel with her alleged boyfriend in Okuokoko in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased coughed profusely and had difficulty in breathing and stooling.
She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital but her condition deteriorated before her death.
However, a statement by the State Commissioner for Health, Mordi Ononye, on Tuesday said the US citizen and boyfriend tested negative.
“Today, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye, announced that the #COVID19 test results of the 67-year old caucasian woman that slumped and died in Osubi, Okpe LGA of Delta State on Sunday has turned out negative.
“Dr. Ononye stated that the young man suspected to be the deceased’s boyfriend also tested negative to #COVID19 as samples of him were also taken for testing.”
“I urge residents to comply with the government’s directives on the various precautionary measures to protect ourselves from the disease.
“This is the only way to contain the pandemic.”
