The president of the apex students body in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, Niger Delta Students Union Government, NIDSUG, Amb. Joey Ekardi Jr. Has on Saturday the 9th of May, 2020. Called on the South South Governors, to tighten up border security, and implement the regional security outfit.
The NIDSUG president made this call in a press release he signed, and made available to newsmen.
Amb. Ekardi pointed out in the press release that, one of his main reasons for making this call, is as a result of the recent influx of Fulani herdsmen into the region.
Elucidating further, the Students leader expressed his displeasure at the lackadaisical attitude of some of the Governors in the region. Which he believes has given room to the Fulani herdsmen to penetrate into the region, to carryout their demonic agenda. Which is to further spread the deadly Coronavirus, as well as to destabilize the security system in the region.
“Needless to say that we are living in very dangerous times as a region and this calls for serious attention.
As a people we are facing both a virus outbreak and a security threat by this nefarious and ungodly act perpetrated by the fulanis and those aiding them in the act.
Informations made available to my office have a pointer that this fulani breach in most of the Niger Delta States is to help further spread the Corona virus in the Niger Delta as well as to increase the rate of insecurity in the region.
This is a wake up call to our State Governments and Leaders, the Niger Delta borders have to be reinforced, the plans to set up the regional security outfit cannot wait anymore. We have to ensure the safety of lives and properties of our people and every culprit must be decisively dealt with to serve as deterrent to others.
Before now, before all this videos started trending we had sent some of this security Informations to Governor Wike and am glad he’s up to the task at that level we commend him and his team for that as well.
Now is the time to act so we will not be taken unawares going forward”.
