The leadership of Oporoza community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta state has denied being in the know of an upcoming electoral convention to be hosted by the community.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of Oporoza community, Demebi Izirimi Johnbull, the community rebuffed speculations on social media calling for the change of venue for the convention, that Oporoza is not a suitable venue.
Demebi disclosed that the community has not being approached for such an event, neither has the community given approval to host the upcoming convention.
Mr Demebi advised all Ijaws and stakeholders of the Ijaw Youth Council and the general public to disregard the rumours and put a halt to every protest against the Oporoza community as the venue for the convention.
The statement reads;
“It has come to the knowledge of the leadership of Oporoza Community that some unknown persons have been peddling rumor that Oporoza is slated to host the forthcoming IYC election.”
“We want to state clearly that the community leadership neither the Council of Chief have not giving any approval to an individual or a group for Oporoza Community as venue.”
‘We therefore advise every concerned member of IYC to suspend their protest and publication on the alleged venue.”
