Angry youths in Ugbuwangue community, Warri South local government area of Delta state, attacked officials of the Nigerian Army, over the shooting of Joseph Pessu on Thursday morning, for flouting the state government’s stay at home orders.
Joseph Pessu who was shot while driving a black Toyota Camry vehicle with just one plate number, refused to stop when the soldiers asked him to. Which led to the soldiers chasing him, in an attempt to stop him. But Joseph continued to speed up his driving so as to escape from them.
The soldiers on their part, shot at the tyres of Joseph, in order to slow him down since they could not meet up with him. Of which the bullet unfortunately landed on his waist, which eventually led to his death.
The Youths in the area, upon hearing the sad incident, mobilized themselves in order to carry out a reprisal attack on gullible soldiers, which they did.
The youths in their bid to retaliate the death of Mr. Joseph, eventually attacked some armless soldiers who were seen on the streets.
The soldiers, in the process of been dealt with by the youths, managed to escape from them, then ran away for the safety of their lives, as the youths keep chase in an attempt to set them ablaze.
