UPDATED: Cause of Akure explosion and Live Images

The cause of the explosion in Akure which hit in the early hours of Saturday may have been identified.

Over 100 buildings were destroyed ny the explosion Eleyowo, Akure, along Owo-Akure highway around 1 a.m on Saturday including a full boarding school, Aina Awawul Secondary School, one the most popular churches in Akure, Possibility Ground Ministry.

According to residents of the area, a terrifying loud bang was heard while most were fast asleep. The explosion cut off the highway leaving hundreds of travelers stranded.

Police officers and other security agencies are already on ground to assess the situation.

However, there are speculations that the explosion may have been caused by meteorite. According to Google, Meteorite is a piece of rock or metal that has fallen to the earth’s surface from outer space as a meteor. Over 90 per cent of meteorites are of rock while the remainder consist wholly or partly of iron and nickel.

NASA had warned earlier that an asteroid will swing past Earth today 30,000MPH.

But NASA only told us that the asteroid was headed towards earth, they didn’t tell us it was headed towards Nigeria 😭😭😭
