Tension is brewing in the Niger Delta region following the abduction of three foreigners in Agge river, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
A source who informed Coastal Times, alleged that unknown gunmen attacked Sterling Global Dredger in the Agge River, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Friday in a heavy gun battle that lasted for four hours.
The source who did not want his name to be disclosed in print noted that the unknown gunmen attacked the facility on Friday night, stressing that the battle was so fierce that four soldiers were killed in the process, three foreigners were taken as hostages as well as the unknown gunmen loosing one.
Meanwhile, our sources noted that there is tension already in the area as the military is said to be preparing for a retaliatory attack in order to bring to book perpetrators of the act.
There is the fear that neighbouring communities and villages may be brought down as the military is gathering intelligence on the matter.
There is speculation that the three foreigners abducted include two Russians and one Indian.
The foreigners where said to be working with Sterling Global Company in the Agge River of Bayelsa State before the unfortunate incidence.
After the deadly attack on Friday night till the moment of filling this report, no militant group has claimed responsibility on the act nor demanded any ransom.
